Hybrid numerical method for the ultrasonic wave propagation velocity in orthotropic materials

This paper deals with a new hybrid method coupling an analytical and finite element approach for the calculation of ultrasonic wave propagation velocity in orthotropic materials applied to timber elements. First, consists integrating model described by considering misalignment direction main reference. A second step calls implementation approach. allows computation assuming heterogeneous material induced means moisture content gradient elements exposed outdoor conditions inducing non-homogeneous distribution mechanical properties such as moduli elasticity character wood. The result this work proposes highly efficient numerical approach, yet without solving dynamic problem, which typically requires very long time while benefiting from support project different hydric fields.
